For the past two months, I have had the honor to work alongside Stewart Home School, an establishment with over 130 years of history, a mission more significant than any one man, and a loving heart like no other.
Along the way, many lessons have been learned, friendships formed, and projects flourished.
The University of Notre Dame aims to “create a sense of human solidarity and concern for the common good that will bear fruit as learning becomes service to justice.”
Its Center For Social Concerns, University of Notre Dame is a testament to this mission, and its fruit can be seen in hundreds of teams sent out over the years to partake in on-the-ground work with organizations focused on growing good.
On a personal level, I am ever grateful for the incredible one-on-one time I had with people whose smiles are never tainted. Thank you to Stewart Home And School for holistically enriching my spirit, relationships, and character.
Furthermore, the University of Notre Dame is beyond intentional in fostering students with hearts ready to contribute in the classroom and, more importantly, hands-on in the everyday world. A sincere and deep thank you to the Center for Social Concerns for this phenomenal opportunity.
If you are interested in learning more about Stewart Home And School, a “community dedicated to the education of students with intellectual disabilities,” and hearing it first-hand from its head, tune in to the DC Channel on YouTube, where I was privileged to be joined by Dr. John D. Stewart.
As the fifth generation Dr. Stewart running this organization, he provides unique insight into the school’s campus, program, and culture as well as the flourishing future that awaits it.
